National Kidney and Transplant Institute

The Cellular Therapeutics and Transplantation (CellTran) Unit of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute is the country’s premier government center for hematopoietic stem cell therapy (HSCT), dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive, and globally competitive care for Filipino patients. Designed with ISO Class 5 cleanroom technology and equipped with modern facilities, the four-bed unit delivers the full spectrum of transplantation services — from conditioning regimens and stem cell infusion to post-transplant monitoring.

Patients receive holistic care from a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled physicians, nurses, specialists, laboratory scientists, and allied health professionals, working together to ensure the best outcomes. In collaboration with PhilHealth, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and government partners, CellTran also makes this life-saving treatment accessible to financially challenged patients. Since its opening in 2019, the unit has successfully performed over 100 hematopoietic stem cell transplants, reinforcing NKTI’s role as the country’s leader in organ and cellular transplantation. Looking ahead, CellTran is committed to advancing into cutting-edge cellular therapies and strengthening collaborations with specialty centers in the Philippines and abroad to expand training, research, and patient care.
